# High-Speed and High-Temperature Operating Conditions Increase Thermal Load

## High-Speed and High-Temperature Operating Conditions Increase Thermal Load

Modern high-speed spindles operate at speeds up to 40,000 rpm and higher. At such speeds, bearings generate significant heat due to friction. Overheating leads to thermal expansion, clearance changes, and premature failure.

## Problems

- Thermal expansion of housing and shaft
- Change in preload
- Lubricant degradation at high temperatures
- Need for cooling system

## Solutions

Bearings with ceramic balls (Si3N4) are used, which have lower density and generate less heat. Oil-air or oil lubrication is used for high-speed operations. Bearings with optimized contact geometry are recommended.
