# Combined Radial and Axial Loads Occur During Complex Machining

## Combined Radial and Axial Loads Occur During Complex Machining

During complex machining (milling, drilling, boring), radial and axial loads act simultaneously on the spindle. Bearings must withstand combined loads without losing accuracy and rigidity.

## Load Types

- Radial from cutting forces
- Axial from tool feed
- Moments from eccentric loads
- Shock loads during interrupted cutting

## Solutions

Combination bearings are used: angular contact ball bearings (for high-speed spindles), tapered roller bearings (for high loads). Paired sets are used to withstand loads in both directions. Preload is recommended to increase rigidity.
