# Contamination from Moisture, Debris, and Wear Particles Caused by Seal Leakage

## Contamination from Moisture, Debris, and Wear Particles Caused by Seal Leakage

Wind turbines operate in environments constantly exposed to dust, sand, insects, and other contaminants. Foreign particles entering bearings cause abrasive wear and accelerated failure.

## Sources of Contamination

- Dust and sand carried by wind
- Insects and organic residues
- Wear particles from other components
- Moisture and condensate

## Solutions

Bearings with multi-stage seals are used: labyrinth, contact, and combined types. Bearings with protective washers are also employed. Ventilation filters are recommended, along with regular lubricant replacement.
