## Contamination by Water, Scale, Oil, and Metal Particles

During rolling, bearings are exposed to cooling water, scale, oil, and metal particles. These contaminants cause abrasive wear, corrosion, and lubricant degradation.

## Sources of Contamination

- Roll cooling water
- Scale from deformed metal
- Oil from hydraulic systems
- Metal particles from wear

## Solutions

Bearings with multi-stage seals are used. Bearings with corrosion-resistant coatings are employed. Oil filtration systems and regular lubricant replacement are recommended.
